Lesser Banishing Ritual of Twisting Yew

trit1
In my continued journey with Twisting Yew, I have fleshed out a version of the LBRP that does not have the Abrahamic touches to it. The format and intention remain. I hope you enjoy.

Face East while performing this ritual.

Part One ( based on the Kabbalistic Cross)

Use your dagger or finger to draw down energy from above to your forehead, touch you forehead. While doing this vibrate:

Thine is

Touch your chest and vibrate:
Sovereignty

Touch your right should and vibrate:

Essence

Touch your left shoulder and vibrate:

Unity

Fold your arms across your chest, palms touching shoulds and vibrate:

So Be It!

Part 2: Drawing pentagrams and circle

While facing East draw the first pentagram, starting at the lower left. when finished

Inhale, pull your hand/dagger back to your chest and then sharply stab the center of the pentagram while vibrating:

High Ones

Keep your arm outstretched and turn ninety degrees to the South; draw another pentagram, stab it and vibrate:

My Gods

Keep your arm outstretched and turn ninety degrees to the West; draw another pentagram, stab it and vibrate:

I am

Keep your arm outstretched and turn ninety degrees to the North; draw another pentagram, stab it and vibrate:

Of Gods

Keep your arm outstretched and turn ninety degrees to the completing the circle that connects the centers of each pentagram.

Part 3: Invocation of the Rune

Still facing the East, stretch out your arms to the side and visualize yourself as an over-sized yew tree with a large red rose blooming at the front intersecting point. When you are happy with the visualization vibrate the runes while visualizing them in huge forms. The placement of the runes is provided in the final speaking text. Vibrate the runes powerfully as you speak:

Before Me is Eihwaz

Behind Me is Laguz

On My Right is Kenaz

On My Left is Algiz

For about me flames the pentagram,

And within me shines the six-rayed star.

Repeat part one.

Departing

Go if you must stay if you will!

Merry Yuletide

Sharing a bit of seasonal reclaiming, here is a song I reworked that I hope you enjoy.

Valkyries we have heard on high

Valkyries we have heard on high
Proudly carrying battle slain
To the House of Odin
Where immortal they remain
Gloria, in excelsis Deus
Gloria, in excelsis Deus
Feasts and training in the halls
Warriors of Valhalla prepare for war
Fight away the longest night
and Welcome into day, the light
Gloria, in excelsis Deus
Gloria, in excelsis Deus
Tis the time of the year
that we greet the great Jolnir
who wanders long and far
bringing gifts to us here
Gloria, in excelsis Deus
Gloria, in excelsis Deus

Spring has turned the tide.

With Winter finally receding and Spring throwing down it’s rains, I figured it is a good time to post an update of what has been going here in Twisting Yew. We have had several good rituals Ostara and Beltane. I will be posting the Beltane ritual soon. We have also had a lot closed rituals for healing requested by members.

I personally have been working on setting up a local Pagan 101 class, and possibly a group class for learning Runes. With the nice weather beginning to be the norm, weekly fireside chats are a possibility as well.

March and April are personally busy months for me in my professional life. That translate to not having as much time as I would like to produce content.  One of the other Guardians has also shown some interest in posting here. I will be setting up them to do so very shortly here, schedules permitting.

Until next time, May your Roots never rot, and May your growing never stop.

Ritual for Ostara

Hail North, the keeper of the dark, the land of the deep thicket, creeping vines, and the land of the Dwarves. Awaken this day to the wanderers of Twisting Yew,  We honor you and welcome your energy into our ritual.

Hail East, the keeper of whispers, the bearer of messages, the land of the mist, the talking leaves, the howling Night, and the land of the Fae. Awaken this day to the wanderers of Twisting Yew, and those of us who are Guardians of the Roots. We honor you and welcome your energy into our ritual.

Hail South, the keeper of flames, the land smoldering ash, burning truth, building creativity, land of the Salamanders. Awaken this day to the wanderers Twisting Yew, and to those of us who are Guardians of the Roots. We honor you and welcome your energy into our ritual.

Hail West, the keeper of the ponds, the land of the Underworld, land of emotions, land of the Nymphs. Awaken this day to the wanderers Twisting Yew. We honor you and welcome your energy into our ritual.

Hail Twisting Yew, the landscape beneath our paths, the revealer of knowledge, the guide to the Gods. We honor you and welcome your energy into our daily life.

Today we gather to acknowledge the changing of the seasons. This is the time we say goodbye to the still of a snow covered forest in the deep night.  This is the time we remember the beauty of the Sun bouncing off of the snow-covered ground, and the pristine awe of virgin snow. The first cranes have returned, skunks have been spotted, the ice is thinning, the snows are receding. We have survived another Winter and all the harshness.

To The Morrigan, We honor your lessons of Sovereignty that allows us a better chance of survival during the Winter. Their harshness is of winter and therefore familiar, allowing us a template in which we are able to guide our journey. Thank you.

(Pour honey or mead into the cup for The Morrigan)

Hail Thor!

Your Hammer mighty Mjolnir has broken up the rime crusted ice! We honor you and your protection, thank you.

(Set offerings of Beer and Meat for Thor.)

Ostara! Ostara! Hear us, the ice is thinning, the animals are awakening. Return, Return and bring the Spring, Bring the greens!  We offer you these colored eggs for your enjoyment.

( Set down a basket of colored eggs as an offering.)

The Gods have been honored. Ostara has been asked to continue her blessing of life. Now is the time focus on your roots and how you will grow them in the seasons ahead to show your appreciation of the Gods and their blessings in your life. In your hands are your root seeds. They may be financial plans, family plans, spiritual plans, hopes or long-held dreams. Whatever they may be, own them, own yourself. Take those first steps down the path of the seeds becoming roots. Roots strong enough to weather the harshest winter, strong enough the stand against the hurricane. Roots deep enough to touch your Ancestors. See your journey, see your goal. Now grow! Once you feel that your seed root is infused with your journey, your goal, you may plant them.

As the last seed is planted it is time to leave this sacred time but never the sacred space.

To the Gods, thank you for sharing this time and space with us. Leave if you must but know that you are welcome always to stay.

To West

To South

To East

And

To North,

Thank you for sharing this time and space with us. Leave if you must but know that you are welcome always to stay.

Today there is a mid winter thaw, Imbolc is on the horizon. The thaw is enough to show the bones of Winter’s carcasses. Thawed enough to reveal the ground and it’s muddies promise of growth. Imbolc is the time of great promise, the time of healing and letting go. A time for planting, a time for the future harvest to be born into the womb of the Earth.

This is a time within the Twisting Yew where the past and the future meet. Here is where

You make your choice for the coming season. Will you choose to hold the pain and keep looking back? Will you hold the lessons and the scars to plant the future? Only you will know which choice is yours to walk this season. Only you will plant your harvest.

As you have made your choice we take this remaining time with the Twisting Yew to honor the spirit of the season. In days past this was a time to Charm the Plough.

Lay the planting tools out.

Hail Freyr! Lord of the Fields! This is time of the year to lay your sword down and bless the seeds

Hail Freya! Maiden of the Spring! This is the time of the year for your shifting into Falcon and see where to best sow the seeds.

We Honor you Vanic Twins for your gifts, for your blessings upon us with our sacrifices.

Drizzle some over the tools

Pour some beer over the tools

Sprinkle some grain over the tools

Put some honey in a bowl

Pour some beer into a horn/cup

Place some grain on a plate

Blessed Nerthus. Mother and Body beneath our feet. Forever we honor you and your abundance. Bless this Plough, Bless these tools that will soon embrace You, so that we shall share in your abundance this coming year. You who open the Earth to us we offer this milk

The first milk of the season. Drink deeply, Drink passionately  of our sacrifice.

Pour the milk into the ground.

At this time participants may bring their personal tools to be blessed, add their own sacrifices and offerings etc…

Thank You, Freyr

Thank You, Freyja

Thank You, Nerthus

Go if you must

Stay if you Will

Tool dedication Ritual

The ritual should take place during a new moon. The full ritual I used for my Scimitar is at the end of the instructions. You are basically presenting a tool to be acknowledged as sacred and only to be used for its new purpose or task. If it has revealed a name to you, now is the time and place to use it. During the acknowledgment part of the ritual, hold the item in both hands as you would if you were going to give the item to a person. Hold this position until you feel that every presence has acknowledged the tool.  The statement of what the tool is being dedicated to will follow next. Examples would be dedicating a quill and ink to a Gods of words to write in their honor or to write in honor of the path you walk. You may dedicate a sword to help you cut away fears you may have of walking down your path. Be wary of dedicating a weapon to a God.

Once you have stated the intended use of the tool it is time to seal the dedication.  Start by holding the item in one hand in front of the top of your head and say “By The Gods.” Next draw the item down to your right knee approximately. When you reach the point say “ By The Old Ways.” Then move to your upper left shoulder approximately and say “By The Current Way.” From here move across to your right shoulder and say “By the Future Way.” Next move down to your right knee say “By My Way.” At this point, you have made an invisible star. You shall make a circle around the invisible start to form a pentacle. As you are forming the circle say “So Mote It Be.”  You start the circle right at your left knee down around to the right knee in a clockwise direction.  When you feel ready, end the ritual.

Spell Bottle

Hail everyone,

Today I would like to talk about making a Spell bottle, for this is a good time to buy containers. Classic style calls for glass or earthenware containers, those are my preference. However, I am adaptable when I need to be, which lead me to this discovery a while back.  While out doing basic needs shopping I spotted these empty Christmas balls that are made to be filled. Satori! Here sits the modern spell bottle. Maybe I was just in a dark corner where the Internet did not reach me with this wonderous announcement, or the email spam guard kicked the memo into the trash box. Until that moment I was ignorantly in the dark about these wondrous new inventions. So I gathered up a small number of them.

DPP_6028

When I got I home I rounded up all the different ingredients I might need to make my first one.  At this time in my life, I was having a creative block. So I wanted to create a spell bottle that removed the block or brought inspiration into my home. I had already made a traditional witches bottle previously.

I set aside some rosemary, allspice, bay leaf, and some stones that called out to be included. I also put some random decorative items in as well, they are for camouflage. Once I filled the bottles, I used some hot glue to seal the top.  When it was ready to be hung, I chanted over it, to it,  and through it.

You may also paint the outside with sigils, prayers, or pictures. The ability to direct a spell at a particular person is also inherent in with these containers. Just place a photo of the person you wish to direct your spell towards. A reminder, any time you practice magick there is always a give and a take. Make sure you understand and are willing to accept that. With that said, the possibilities are as endless as your mind and your needs. Imagine a Yule tree or Christmas tree all decorated with these for a specific intent!

Until Next time, May your Roots never rot, and May your growing never stop.
