Review: Witch Unleashed Untamed Unapologetic

Witch Unleashed Untamed Unapologeyic by Lisa Lister, was one of a few books I picked up last week. With in the first few pages, I almost put the book down. You may actually put it down. It is not meant for everyone. That is ok.

Over all the book is geared towards beginner woman witches. It talks a lot about Patriarchy and the damage it has done to woman over the centuries. The book also tells you to question everything including this book. It is clearly a feminist book.

Once you get past all of if it does not resonate with you, the books provides some basic information. The information is not anything new or not found elsewhere. It goes over the Sabbats, some herb, stone, and color correspondences, different way of divination, and so forth.

The positive thing in this book is that it highly encourages you to listen to yourself, to feel yourself, to know yourself. It also provides some path working exercises through out the book. The book is more of a guide or call to do your own research and developer your own path.

So if you are looking for an in-depth how to, this book may not be for you. However if you are looking for something with a different flavor, you might find this book interesting.

‘Till we next meet again; May your Roots never rot, and your growing never stop.

Protection Spell

dpp_6366 (2)

For this past full moon one of our members had a request for a protection magick. This is a slight variant on what we created for the request. Full moon energy was used to boost the potency. The ingredients used are:

  • Alligator Tooth
  • One to three Sea Shells with points preferably
  • Selected herbs. ( We used Bay Leaf , and Ground Clove.)
  • Cascarilla powder
  • Black Candle

Feel free to add anything else you think you need, or what you know works for you. During the speel you will be placing the shells and gator tooth will be placed around a house or property. You will also Fill the gator tooth herbs and cascarilla powder and seal it with wax from the black candle.

When you are ready to start the spell gather the filled and sealed tooth, shells and candle to where you will be working. Cast your circle if desired.

Light the candle, and the speak the spell below:

To the Gods who work with and watch over person/persons named. We call to you tonight! Glorious are you in whom We walk with! Great are you in whom We give our Love to! Hear us tonight, under this full Moon whose strength is bright. Bless this spell for protection of this house,
person/persons named, their family, and their possessions from the ill intentions, and actions of those who wish to harm and to bring harm here.

We call to the creatures of the sea who have passed and left these houses that have points and spikes, bless these vessels times three! ( present shells to all directions, and place in the predesignated spots) We call to Gator whose teeth and claws protect their territory bless this vessel! ( present to all directions, and then place in the predesignated spot.)”

We you feel ready open the circle if you cast one. If it is safe leave the candle burn to its completion. If it is not, light the candle daily until it is done.

‘Till we next meet again; May your Roots never rot, and your growing never stop.

Merry Yuletide

Sharing a bit of seasonal reclaiming, here is a song I reworked that I hope you enjoy.

Valkyries we have heard on high

Valkyries we have heard on high
Proudly carrying battle slain
To the House of Odin
Where immortal they remain
Gloria, in excelsis Deus
Gloria, in excelsis Deus
Feasts and training in the halls
Warriors of Valhalla prepare for war
Fight away the longest night
and Welcome into day, the light
Gloria, in excelsis Deus
Gloria, in excelsis Deus
Tis the time of the year
that we greet the great Jolnir
who wanders long and far
bringing gifts to us here
Gloria, in excelsis Deus
Gloria, in excelsis Deus

Servitude

Down through the darkness
into the light
Run away
Crossroads here
Snake skins there
deception
lies
hurt
Venom in the blood
No marks
Torch light ahead
Turn to the left
Cloudy night
I stand alone
Make my own way
Speaking a sword of truth
No apologies for your cuts
No joy in your blood
Life in service
Is true solitude

Walking

Loki
Honored one
I hear you call
I see your actions
Your message I know not.
The path is here
The foundation you  have built
The steps were mine
The steps are mine
The storms rage all around
I still see
I still walk
I may not be me when I’m done

Another chance.

Hello. This is a quick little post today. Pictured above is another round of candle glass, and a wine bottle getting ready to be cleaned for reuse. All of the candle jars were on my altars. they have collected energy. I have found that reusing them in spells adds to the overall effectiveness. So I take the extra half over or so to bake and then wash them out.  ‘Till we next meet again; May your Roots never rot, and your growing never stop.

OakBear

The dictionary defines a Sage as a person of profound wisdom.
What I have to expand on that definition and add a bit of faith is: men who reach a certain age become known as “Sage” in the Pagan community for the wisdom that they share with the Tribe. The leaders and the younger set look to them for guidance, teachings and great stories of the past and lessons for the present.
I have known many such men in my life and in the Pagan community. One stands out from the others for his benevolence, for his stories, his humor, and for his dedication to Tribe and his friends.
I immediately felt safe in his presence and learned much from him, as I hope he learned a bit from me as well. I could be the real me, a person of fire and ice, in his presence and he didn’t seem to mind one bit. And if he did, he told me so himself.
He saw something in me (just as he did for others) that no one else could see, or things that others lost sight of.
I will honor him and I will remember him as I move forward in life and here at Twisting Yew. I will remember his lessons and I will remember that he saw value in me and in those around me.
Here, I say goodbye to Daniel Moeller, OakBear; who has left this Earth for his next adventure.
Hail the Traveler!! Hail OakBear!!!
I honor you, I remember you, here and in this life. Let his name be spoken with reverence for the many things he did for our country and for the Pagan community.

Goodbye, Hello

It is with heavy heart I write this. One of the great Pagans in the greater Wisconsin is walking his final steps. He is an Elder to many here at Twisting Yew. They would tell you epic stories of how he keep other Pagan organizations alive, how he would always pass pentacles to any new pagan he would meet, about his great sense of humor, or how he would care for stray, and injured animals. He is a part of us in ways he could not imagine.
Hail Elder Oak Bear!
Mighty in stature.
Gregarious, generous, adventurous in life.
Friend to animals,
We speak to you!
Though you have lost this battle, It is your strength, and your passion in your life, your beliefs that will linger on through the many strings in the web of your life. From your child, through your militarily career, your life as a husband, you enormous support to the many pagan organization and pagan individuals you have touch many, and fostered a community of great love and friendship. Reach out onto that web and feel the love and support for you during you final journey in this life.
You spent a life of service, to this country, to your family, to your community, we are now in service to you in your final steps. We will be in service to learn from you what could not be taught in this mortal path, as you spend time with the Ancestors.
The Roots of Twisting Yew have opened a space for you when you are ready to join the Ancestors. Walk bravely and may Awen be ever stronger for you in your new journey.

Midsummer Ritual

Hail North, the keeper of the dark, the land of the deep thicket, creeping vines, and the land of the Dwarves. Awaken this day to the wanderers of Twisting Yew,  We honor you and welcome your energy into our ritual.

Hail East, the keeper of whispers, the bearer of messages, the land of the mist, the talking leaves, the howling Night, and the land of the Fae. Awaken this day to the wanderers of Twisting Yew, and those of us who are Guardians of the Roots. We honor you and welcome your energy into our ritual.

Hail South, the keeper of flames, the land smoldering ash, burning truth, building creativity, land of the Salamanders. Awaken this day to the wanderers Twisting Yew, and to those of us who are Guardians of the Roots. We honor you and welcome your energy into our ritual.

Hail West, the keeper of the ponds, the land of the Underworld, land of emotions, land of the Nymphs. Awaken this day to the wanderers Twisting Yew. We honor you and welcome your energy into our ritual.

Hail Twisting Yew, the fuel for our internal fires, the revealer of knowledge, the guide to the Gods. We honor you and welcome your energy into our daily life.

The Quarters are called sacred space is brought forth to this land once more. Mind your thoughts, your feelings, and your emotions, for today we call to the most ancient, the most prolific in myth, the most wise, the most common transcultural Deities. Today we call Dragons! Creatures of fire, immense emotions, and endless wisdom.

O’ Great Adroka, Queen of the Stars and Moon, and knowledge long forgotten.
O’ Shinning Pearl One, hear our prayers, and add your blessings to our Fires! We honor you and welcome you!

O’ Great Maruk, Lord of the Sun, Fields, and knowledge not yet known. O’ Mighty Dark One, hear our prayers, and add your blessings to our fires! We honor and welcome you!

In your presence we are not alone. In your presence we accept all of our self, the light, the dark, it is us. It is you. Without one we become unbalanced, stagnant. As we walk through these Midsummer Fires we are at this one moment whole. Any separation we might have felt, any denial we might have had is no longer stopping us. We now see our shadow mask illuminated by the long daylight hours, by the Sacred Fires,  By Adroka, By Maruk. ( As the participants pass through the fires, they may add herbs for offerings, or offerings of pain, hurt, or non-beneficial trait to be assimilated and no longer separate. Each participant is to take a white and a black stone/bead from the bowls next to each fire as representation in this physical world of this moment of balance. )

In the midst of Summer you have grown tall, strong and abundant plants, flowers, trees, and roots. Now is the time to start to see what can be harvested soon and what needs some work before it will ready to harvest. Take the time to look at your garden. (soft drumming for a few minutes. Drumming gets louder and picks up beat until a full drum circle has emerged.)

In honor of you Adroka, and Maruk we drum and we dance!
(When the celebration reaches its peak, a Guardian shall lead the participants back to circle form, as the drumming recedes.)
Drink from the horn! Eat from the plates! Know now that you have honored Dragons and lived to tell about it. Now take your experience and leave your fear but still keep your caution.
Once again we thank you O’ Great Adroka and O’ Mighty Maruk. Stay if you will, Go if you must!

Hail North, the keeper of the dark, the land of the deep thicket, creeping vines, and the land of the Dwarves. Thank you for sharing your grounding energy in our ritual.

Hail East, the keeper of whispers, the bearer of messages, the land of the mist, the talking leaves, the howling Night, and the land of the Fae. We thank you for sharing your moving energy into our ritual.

Hail South, the keeper of flames, the land smoldering ash, burning truth, building creativity, land of the Salamanders. We thank you for sharing your searing energy in our ritual.

Hail West, the keeper of the ponds, the land of the Underworld, land of emotions, land of the Nymphs. We thank you for sharing your cyclic energy into our ritual.
To Twisting Yew, Teacher, Wander, stripper of false. We thank you and for sharing your blessings upon our ritual.

Welcome.  Have you felt the fire?  Have you felt the rain? Have you touched the mud? Have you smelled the incense? Can you see the change? Can you feel her presence walking in the woods? Look, there She stands.  The Forest Protector Artemis! Hail Artemis Protector of the forest and animals. We offer you ___ to protect our animals, our forests. We offer you __ in thanks and in honor for what you do.  Participants walk under the path of arrows shot from Artemis’s Bow. When all have been blessed return to circle center.

Have you felt the sun? Have you seen the buds? Have you smelled the earth? Have you touched the air? Can you see the change? Can you feel his presence among the fields, among the roots?  Look, There He stands. The Golden God, riding on his mighty boar, Gold-Bristled! We offer you __ to pass on fertility and prosperity to our fields and to us. We offer you ___ in thanks and honor of what you do. Participants walk past Freyr as he throws seeds/grains over them. When all have been blessed return to circle center.

Now is the time to put affirmative intent into the seeds that you have planted last we were together. Accept the energetic blessings of Artemis to protect your will. Accept the energetic blessings of Freyr to grow your will. Accept the energetic blessings of the essence of Fire, of Loki, to allow the necessary change within ourselves. When all have fortified their intentions begin the closing.

Your intents have been reinforced, it is up to you now to make them manifest. Once more feel the energies, merge with the energies present. Honor them and thank them. Our time in this sacred space is coming to an end. The influence remains. Let us depart with what we needed. Sound the Horn.

To West

To South

To East

And

To North,

Thank you for sharing this time and space with us. Leave if you must but know that you are welcome always to stay.
